Plagiarism simply refers to an act of unauthorized use or imitation of another author as one’s own original work. All human begins like to do work in as simplest way as possible. Hence plagiarism comes handy to people as they need not crack their brains to come out with new ideas and answer. Yet this is unfair to those authors. Internet network is the key source where student search for information regarding their projects or homework. Students often commit the mistake of copying the exact information available in the internet and paste it as their own work. They will not be able to learn by doing this. Furthermore, it violates the copyright laws of duplicating others work and not crediting it. Hence it is important to teach them about plagiarism and the importance of respecting intellectual property. It will be good to teach them since young. As they will come across using the Internet to do their homework, as early as in their primary level. Children will not know the knowledge of plagiarism if no one were to teach them. They will not be able to know that duplicating or close imitation of another author as their own work would be an offense. Still, some people may commit the act of plagiarizing, when they knew that such acts are not legal. Not only students make this mistake. Adults commit it too. The release of German-manufactured WePad is a good example of close imitation of other’s original work. The WePad duplicated almost all the Apple iPad’s functions and features. However, WePad were sold at a lower price. In my opinion, I strongly agree that cases involving plagiarism should be deal with seriously. For students who plagiarized, they would be receiving the penalties of a fail grade in the course, suspension, or even expulsion. In short, we must appreciate the hard work of the original author by not duplicating their work and calls the work his or her own.
