AF1002 Group 3 Times & Nonsense.
Tuesday, June 15, 2010

While planning for this week’s blogging topic (SELF REFLECTION), I realized I have benefit a lot from what I have gone through so far in this assessment. I used to keep a blog, sharing the part and parcel of my life. However not long later, I found out that I am not used in expressing how I feel through blogging and sharing my thoughts. Carrying out a task of reading newspapers or watching news regularly was impossible for me too. I feel bored once it comes to world news and etc. The secondary school I attended in the past, bring about a series of activities to put into effect of reading news as a habit in us. We were told to read the Times Magazine every morning before lesson starts. Yet I was not impelled by it to make reading as a habit. When we were told to blog on our views and opinion on various articles, I did not expect that I would end up enjoying what I am doing now.

The topic that causes the most profound impact on me is the first topic on reducing the mother tongue language weighting in PSLE. I was not notified or aware of this issue before it was given to us. Eventually I was not interested to find out more when my family was discussing about it as I think that it does not concerns or affects me at all. After reading the article, I knew I was wrong. In the beginning, I was one of those who dislike Chinese language. There was a time when my Chinese teacher happens to teach us about the historical figures related to Chinese language. It was then when I started gaining interest towards Chinese. After treating Chinese as my favourite language, my results improved tremendously. Frankly speaking, I would not score as well for my O level if the weightage is reduced. Hence after knowing more about the issue of reducing the mother tongue language weighting in PSLE, I feels that it is unfair for those who perform well in their Chinese language. This is the topic which I am most passionate about and it was really a good start for me. I began to look forward to the upcoming topic.

The topic on plagiarism affects me personally too. At that point of time, I was preparing for one of my module project. The article was truly a great reminder to me. It somewhat saves me from committing the act of plagiarizing. The facts and consequences raised from the article taught me knowledge which I was unsure of.

After all, I benefit and gain a lot of knowledge through this blogging assessment. It creates a chance for me to force myself in reading the article at first, to having the interest of knowing more knowledge and news from worldwide at the end. I believe as time passes, there will sure be an improvement in me.
