AF1002 Group 3 Times & Nonsense.

Can u actually survive in Singapore without even knowing how to speak basic English? The answer to most of the people would be basically a 'NO'. It is not difficult to speak English. However it may be a challenge to most of the people to communicate with good English that is grammatically correct and universally understandable.

Many governments worldwide have been offering more and more english courses to encourage its citizens to master English so as to remain competitive in this world. This shows that English is essential in communication and has become important from years to years.

For example, we were asked to list out the languages we know in the applicant form when we are applying for certain jobs. Some jobs even require us to equip with a third and fourth languages. Without knowing the English language, it will still be redundant if we can speak and write other languages well.

In addition, I had highlighted in the past post that having the abililty to speak good Chinese benefited us when we work in China. As china becomes a developed conutry where entrepreneurs would desire to set up their company there, hence knowing how to communicate in chinese is important. It applies the same to knowing the english language. With the western countries dominating the world, being able to speak good English will definitely benefit us in many ways.

After mentioning about the importance of English in the working society, I should talk about its importance in our daily life too. English can be considered as a common language where most of the people use to communicate with each other across the globe. For example, when we were off for a holiday, most of us would speak English language with the people there. This is a common language that we can use to express ourselves among people from different countries, races and ethnic groups.

In conclusion, English language has prove its importance as time passes. Therefore, there is a need to constantly improve our English language so as to keep ourselves competitive.
