Emotional intelligence in short form is what we call as EQ. It is not something we can learn from the textbook, but rather something which we develop overtime in our personality or character. From the article that I've read, it can be deduce that the ability to handle different kind of relationship, controlling own emotions, good management of time and stress management is very important. To compete with over thousands of people out there for a job, you must be equipped with these criteria to be able to stand a high chance of getting the job. Nowadays, employers not only look out for good academic results but also your personality and EQ. Therefore, they are very particular about how you response to different kind of situation and how you carried out yourself. For example, if you are caught between an argument between two of your colleagues over some issues regarding a project, are you settle the argument by providing a win-win situation? Another case could be, faced with unreasonable customers whom may be difficult to handle. Are you able to provide them with the best service and at the same time bear with their demanding attitude and all? This is where emotional intelligence, EQ , plays big role. I strongly agree that good leadership is also another leading factor in the business world. Without good leadership, there is no way you can influence your partner or colleagues to work as a team and produce good results. To uphold the position as a leader, it must be someone who can set directions for people and motivate them to work towards their goals. Hence, with good leaders, there will be progress and improvement. This states how important leadership is. I remember during my secondary education, we have pastoral care modules like stress management, time management, handling with relationship and more. This comes in handy and effective where we can apply what we learn. Thus, I feel that these 'extra lessons' had really helped me a lot. -TRICIA
